NSC steps in, tells CEO Bhawana Ghimire to take full charge of Cricket Association of Nepal

KATHMANDU: In a clear indication of its refusal to recognise the authenticity of Cricket Association of Nepal's newly elected executive committee, the National Sports Council on Monday told CAN CEO Bhawana Ghimire to take full charge of the Nepali cricket's governing body for the time being.

Ghimire has been told to look after the day to day affairs of CAN besides dealing with the International Cricket Council (ICC) with consent from the NSC.

Amid controversies, CAN had recently held its elective general assembly and chosen a new executive committee under the leadership of Chatur Bahadur Chand.

When asked over comment over the Chand-led executive committee, NSC Member Secretary Keshab Kumar Bista last week had said, “CAN? Which CAN? I don’t know about any election.”

It has been learned that the NSC is preparing to form a new executive committee.
