Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF) is organising the NSJF-LG Player of the Year Awards 2007-08 on September 10.

Organised annually on the World Sports Journalists Day (July 2), the event was postponed for September due to technical reasons, said NSJF general secretary Hemanta Kafle at a press meet on Sunday.

While the NSJF awarded six best individuals last year, the organisers have added one more category this year — Popular Player award. “As per the NSJF plan to add one category every year, we have decided to include the Popular award this year,” said Kafle.

The SMS voting system will determine the popular player among the 15 nominees to be picked by the five-member selection committee formed under the convenorship of NSJF secretary Mahesh Acharya. The committee will also announce five nominees each in four categories —Best Male and Female, Best Youth Player and Best Coach, the organisers said.

The Lifetime Achievement and the Special award winners will be announced on September 10.
