NTA signs deal with UK Sports
Kathmandu, June 23
Nepal Taekwondo Association and UK Sports today reached an agreement for the overall development of the sport and technical manpower.
NTA President Prakash Shumsher Rana and Catherine Sweet of UK Sports exchanged the memorandum of understanding amidst a programme held at Koteshwor Taekwondo Dojang. As per the agreement, UK Sports would help the NTA in upgrading the level of Nepali coaches, providing training to para taekwondo players, conducting various programmes of para taekwondo.
Also the UK Sports would help NTA to categorise taekwondo, upgrade the level of sport and organise tournaments. UK Sports agreed to conduct programme of para taekwondo to ensure Nepal’s strong participation in 2020 Tokyo Paralympics.
The NTA would also organise programmes on taekwondo sports science and drugs for players in association with UK Sports. NTA President Rana said the agreement with UK Sports would be helpful in taking Nepali taekwondo to a different level. UK Sports representative Sweet said they were excited to work with the NTA.
Meanwhile, Taekwondo Coach Education Course began at the Koteshwor Taekwondo Dojang. Sweet, UK Sports Team Head Andrew Deer and Great Britain Taekwondo Team Manager Jayne Ellis will conduct the three-day course. A total of 60 coaches from seven provinces are taking part in the course.
