NVA Club C’ship from September 13

Nepal Volleyball Association is organising the third NVA Club Volleyball Championship here at the National Sports Council covered hall from September 13-19.

The tournament will serve as the selection event for the National League Championship, informed NVA General Secretary Jitendra Bahadur Chand at a press meet today.

He also informed that men’s eight teams and women’s six teams will be picked up for the national league scheduled for November 23-26.

A total of 11 teams — Nepal APF Club, Nepal Police Club, Tribhuvan Army Club, Mani Kukunda Volleyball Club, Kavre District Volleyball Association, Dhorpatan Volleyball Club, Jawalakhel Youth Club, Pragatishil Youth Club of Jiri, Help Nepal Sports Club, Western Region Volleyball Club and Nayabazar Youth Club — have confirmed their registration.

In women’s 10 teams — Nepal APF, TAC, NPC, New Diamond, Kavre, Jawalakhel, Dhorpatan, Western, Shree Nagar High School and Pragatishil — have confirmed their participation for the championship which will be played in league-cum-knockout format.

The winners, runners-up and third place finishers in both the categories will each earn Rs 125,000, Rs 70,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively. Similarly, the best players in both the categories will bag Rs 15,000 each, while the best blocker, lifter, spiker, libero and server will get Rs 5,000 apiece.

Chand informed the prize money was increased by Rs 75,000 compared to the first two editions.  Main sponsor of the championship Trinity College will provide the prize money to the winners of both categories.

Similarly, Sanjay Memorial Foundation will bear cash prizes to individual award winners.
