Paddle Nepal claim Team C’ship of National Rafting

Paddle Nepal ‘A’ won the team title of the National Rafting Championship under the sixth Mountain Sports Festival here at Trishuli River in Fishling today.

Paddle Nepal accumulated 913 points to win the team championship, while Team Fishling ‘B’ earned 895 points and came second. Nepal Kayak Club finished third with 786 points.

Meanwhile, Paddle Nepal ‘A’ won the title of the Down River Race of rafting. They completed the 14km distance in 50 minutes and four seconds. Fishling ‘B’ took 50 minutes and 32 seconds to finish second, while Nepal Kayak Club ‘B’ came third in 50 minutes and 44 seconds.

Nepal Kayak Club ‘A’ won the Slalom event with 300 points, while Fishling ‘B’ finished runner-up with 264 points and Paddle Nepal ‘A’ came third with 237 points. Likewise, Fishling ‘B’ won the Head-to-Head competition title with 200 points, while Paddle Nepal A and Nepal Kayak Club ‘A’ came second and third with 176 points and 158 points respectively.

On Monday, Nepal Kayak Club’s Surjan Tamang had won the Kayak Slalom title, finishing ahead of his teammate Suman Thapa and Chitwan Team Fishling’s Bikash Gurung. The top three players were selected for the Asian Games to be held in Indonesia in September.

Similarly, Paddle Nepal ‘A’ had won the Sprint section title, while Nepal Kayak Club ‘A’ and Team Fishling ‘B’ were second and third respectively. In all, 12 teams completed in the championship organised by Nepal Rafting and Canoeing Association.
