KATHMANDU: Pioneer International Public School won the team championship of the Inter-school Chess Tournament with four gold, two silver and four bronze medals here on Sunday.

Aabha Pudasaini (U-12 girls) and Biraj Pudasaini (U-12 boys) added two gold medals for hosts Annapurna on Sunday to the two bagged by Supriya Budhathoki (U-10 girls) and Anisha Neupane (U-14 girls) on the second day.

Likewise, Milan Tamang of Annapurna won the above-14 boys’ title, while Suprim Adhikari of Himalayan Academy claimed U-10 boys’ gold medal. Anish Dangol of Bindhyabasini won U-12 boys gold medal, while Sujana Lohani of Greenland bagged U-16 girls’ title.

A total of 200 players from 60 schools took part in the three-day event that offered eight gold medals. NCA President Rajesh Hari Joshi handed over prizes to the winners.
