KATHMANDU, APRIL 30

Pokhara Thunders and Kathmandu RayZrs played a goalless draw in the Khukri Nepal Super League here at the Dasharath Stadium today.

Both the teams created a couple of chances but they failed to find the back of the nets. Pokhara came close to scoring in the 20th minute but skipper Nawayug Shrestha missed a chance following a cross from Moussa Abba.

Shrestha missed a sitter 10 minutes later when he wasted an opportunity before being intervened by defender.

At the other end, Pokhara goalkeeper Deep Karki saved Sanjok Rai's header on a pass from Biswas Shrestha in the 77th minute, while Messouke Oloumou shot wide after beating goalkeeper Karki in counter attack four minutes later. Rai missed another chance in the 88th minute after custodian Karki failed to make proper clearance on Oloumou's shot.

After the result, both the teams have four points from three matches and Pokhara are ahead at the third position.

Dhangadhi Football Club and Butwal-Lumbini are tied at the top with four points apiece. Padam Moktan of Pokhara was named the man of the match, while Kathmandu's Rajan Gurung was adjudged the emerging player.

On Saturday, Dhangadhi FC will take on FC Chitwan, while Biratnagar will face Butwal-Lumbini.

A total of seven teams are taking part in the first-ever franchise-based football tournament organised by Nepal Sports and Event Management Pvt Ltd under the sponsorship of Khukri.

The winners of the tournament will be richer by Rs 3.5 million, while the runners-up will get Rs 1.5 million.

The best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, forward and emerging player of the tournament will get Rs 100,000 each.

Man-of-the-match and emerging player in each game will receive Rs 25,000 and 10,000 respectively.
