Ban claims Lions Centennial Open Golf title

Prakash Ban won the title of the Old Durbar Lions Centennial Open Golf Tournament here at the Royal Nepal Golf Club today.
Played under stableford 3/4 handicap format, the 15-handicap amateur player Ban scored 37 points to lift the trophy and return ticket to Bangkok from Nepal Airlines along with gift hampers. Dhruba Thapa came second on count back after he was tied on 36 points with Pissanu Charfun.
Phuntsok N Lama won the gross section trophy with 28 points. Pratima Sherpa bagged the women’s category award with 41 points, while Pawitra Yakthumba came second with 32 points.
The five-handicapper Sherpa carded five birdies on her way to scoring the highest points of the tournament and also won the most birdies award. Lama and Sherpa received return tickets to Delhi.
Rabindra Tiwari lifted the guest section trophy, while Col Sashi Singh and Maj Narendra K Rai won the senior and super senior awards. All three golfers scored 33 points. Also, Phuntsok N Lama bagged the longest drive award, Vivek SJB Rana got the closest-to-the-pin trophy and Sophi Hammond received the best sportsmanship award.
A total of 102 golfers took part in the two-day event organised by Lions Club of Dingla Bhojpur to mark the 100th year of Lions Clubs International. Old Durbar of Yeti Distillery Pvt Ltd was the main sponsor of the tournament, while 8848 Vodka, Snowman, NLG Insurance Company Limited and Pran were the co-sponsors.
Green Line Centre Private Limited, Atithi Resort and Haven Spa were the partners of the event which was managed by Purple Inc Pvt Ltd and Corporate Management Solution Nepal.
International Director of Lions Clubs International Sanjay Khetan, Chairman of Yeti Distillery Pvt Ltd Ravi KC, Managing Director Abhishek Shrestha, and Multiple Council Chairperson Sunil Bhakta Shrestha and District Governor Kumar Raj Subedi among others handed over the prizes to the winners of the tournament.
