President running shield starts

POKHARA: Athletes Sunil Chaudhary and Pramila Chaudhary from Central Region began the President Running Shield campaign with gold medals here on Saturday.

In boys’ section, Chaudhary clocked 11.55 seconds to complete the 100-metre distance and finished first. Subash Ratgaiya of Mid-western Region and Shakti Shapkota of Western region finished the race in second and third position respectively. In girls’ category, Pramila clocked 13.45 seconds to win gold, while Lujala Amatya of Central and Bindu Thapa of Western finished second and third respectively.

In boys’ 1,500m race, Dagar Budhathoki from Mid-western Region won gold with the timing of four minutes and 31.3 seconds. Prakash Dunuwar of Eastern and Rohit Adhikari of Western finished second and third respectively. In girls’ section, Gauri Kathayet of Far-western Region claimed gold with the timing of five minutes and 17.8 seconds, finishing head of Rajpura Pachhai of Mid-western and Gudiya Gupta of Western Region.

In boys’ high-jump, Naresh Chaudhary of Far-western Region won gold medal with the jump of 1.60m, while Biwas Tharu of Mid-western Region and Jeevan Kumar Shah of Central finished second and third respectively. In girls’ section, Sangita Tharu of Mid-western won gold, while Neha Adai of Western and Niruta Shahi of Mid-western won silver and bronze medals respectively.

In boys’ shot put, Tilak BK of Mid-western won gold, while Isujan KC and Birendra Chaudhary of Central finished second and third respectively. In girls’ section, Sangita Tharu of Mid-western, Neha Adai of Western and Niruta Shahi of Mid-western claimed the top three spots.

In volleyball, Western, Central and Eastern regions registered victories in the boys’ section matches, while Western Region earned heir second consecutive victory in girls’ category. Earlier, Minister for Youth and Sports Purushottam Paudel and NSC vice-president Lama Tendi Sherpa inaugurated the tournament.
