Professional golfer Sanjay Lama and amateurs Raju Thakali, Santosh Gurung and Brig Gen Sudarshan Silwal won the Surya Nepal Western Open Pro-Am title here at the Himalayan Golf Course today.

The winning team accumulated 138 points after Pro Lama and amateur Brig Gen Silwal scored 34 points each, and two other amateurs Raju Thakali and Santosh Gurung earned 35 points apiece. Top pro and best three amateur scorers constituted the winning team.

The team of pro Niraj Tamang (32) and amateurs Sushma Sigdel (32), Deepak Karki (30) and Arjun Kumar Karki (29) won the second place with the total score of 123 points. Pro Tamang and Sigdel scored 32 points each, while Deepak earned 30 and Arjun got 29. The runner-up team included second best pro and amateurs from fourth to sixth.

The team of pro Bal Bhadra Rai and amateurs Rajendra Gauchan, Sandesh Sigdel, and Rabindra Tiwari finished third with 112 points to finish third. All four golfers scored 28 points each. Sushma Sigdel produced the best card among women golfers after he earned 32 points, while Prakash Gurung and Deepak Karki won the longest drive and closest-to-thepin awards respectively.

In all, 70 players - 15 pros and 55 amateurs - took part in the Pro-Am event played under the stableford full handicap format. PGA Nepal President Rabindra Man Shrestha, Nepal Golf Association President Tashi Ghale and Director of Himalayan Golf Course Kiran KC handed over prizes to the winners.

Nepal No 1 pro Sukra Bahadur Rai won the 54-hole main event on Friday with the total score of one-under 206. Sanjay Lama and Bhuvan Nagarkoti were tied for second at one-over 208. The 23rd edition of the Surya Nepal Western Open carried a cash purse of Rs 800,000.
