KATHMANDU: A four-member Nepali professional boxing team is on Wednesday leaving for United Kingdom to participate in the Rumble in The Jungle event slated for July 29 in Scotland.

Pro boxers Manohar Basnet, Akash Dangi and Puran Rai will fight in their respective weight categories, while Nepal Professional Boxing Commission President Rajan Prajapati will accompany the boxers to the UK. Basnet, popularly known as Max in sporting fraternity, will fight against Universe Boxing Aliens (UBA) belt holder and Scottish champion Bobby Carter in the cruiserweight bout.

Basnet was selected for the UBA belt mwtch from the Spain Global Boxing Federation tournament last year. Dangi will fight against Scottish champion Andy Bell in super featherweight bout for the Universe Boxing Union belt, while veteran boxer Rai will take on William Carter in the 57kg weight category.

Max Boxing Promotion Managing Director Mukti Thapa and NPBC President Prajapati bade farewell to the boxers on Monday.
