Pun claims Abilities Cup

Kathmandu, January 20:

DIG Niraj Pun won the second Abilities Cup Golf tournament held at the Le Meridien Gokarna Forest Golf Resort & Spa here today. DIG Pun received the golfing holiday to China for his effort.

DIG Pun won the championship on count back system after tying for equal 38 points with Suhrid Ghimire. Pun also claimed the longest drive award. Played under the 3/4 handicap formant, Lalit Surarat finished second runner up with 37 stableford points.

Kesang Lama claimed the ladies title with 31 points. YD Kwon ended up as ladies’ runner up with 28 points. Likewise, RR Pandey was the winner in the senior category and Yeshe Tsering the runner up. Rupak Acharya became the best gross winner with 34 points. Hridesh Singh claimed the closest-to-pin award for his Hole No 10 effort while Dr D Basnet was honoured with best sportsmanship award.

In all, 94 men and 10 women golfers participated in the tournament organised by Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre for Disabled Children (HRDC) and supported by The Himalayan Times. S Annan, General Manager of the United Telecom Limited, Joseph Nathan, Editorial Advisor of International Media Network (Pvt) Limited , Shen Si Hua, General Manager of China Southern Airlines and HRDC Executive Director KP Bhattarai gave away the prizes.
