Qatar Airways Open Golf Tournament this week

Kathmandu, November 17

Qatar Airways Open Golf Tournament, an annual event for amateur golfers, is slated for this weekend at the Gokarna Golf Club.

Around 100 golfers will compete in four categories men, women, senior and junior, said the organisers in a press release today. Qatar Airways launched the tournament in association with other sponsors in 2003 and it has become a prominent event in Nepali golf calendar.

The women and junior players will complete their rounds on Friday, while others will play on Saturday. “The competition will be fierce as we are right in the peak season. The condition of the golf course is at its best and most participants are looking forward to take part in this coveted tournament,” the release added.

The winner will receive air ticket to Edinburgh, the home of golf. Apart from that, winners and runners-up in other categories along with best gross, longest drive, closest-to-the-pin and most birdies winners will also get attractive prizes.

“Qatar Airways is committed to sports events globally and we are happy to be associated with golf and Gokarna Forest Resort. I hope this event will be a platform for a competition as well as fun. I am confident that this association and the size of the tournament will grow in the years to come,” said Rohan Bhadgaonkar, Country Manager, Qatar Airways.
