Qatar Airways Open Golf this weekend

The seventh edition of the Qatar Airways Open Golf Tournament is scheduled for Friday and Saturday at the Gokarna Golf Club.

Around 90 players are expected to take part in the tournament which will be played under stableford 3/4 handicap format, informed Senior Golf Director of Gokarna Forest Resort Deepak Acharya at a press meet today.

The tournament features five categories — men, women, gross, senior and junior. The winner of the event will receive air ticket to any destination from Qatar Airways, while others will get gift hampers and trophies.

Country Manager of Qatar Airways JP Nair said that they were delighted to host the event for the seventh year in a row and that they were planning to hold a professional tournament next year. “We are ready to organise the tournament for professional golfers next year and we will also bring players from abroad,” said Nair.

Stating that Qatar Airways was involved in sports worldwide, Nair said that they wanted to contribute in Nepali sports. “A lot of activities can take place in Nepal as we have favourable climate throughout the year. And there are many things in plan under our Corporate Social Responsibility initiative as want to make Nepal a well known destination through sports,” he added.
