Quit NOC, RSFN members told

Kathmandu, July 2:

Republic Sports Federation of Nepal (RSFN) on Thursday asked their representatives — Pravat Kiran Subedi, Hukum Raj Giri and Bimala Poudel — to quit the Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan led Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC). Subedi is

the NOC vice-president, Giri the member and Poudel the NOC Women Commission member.

The NOC was dragged into controversy following the claim on July 28 from the former president Rukma Shumsher Rana as being the authentic committee. Pradhan-led NOC was elected on March 13 at the presence of international representatives along

with Rana himself. Michael Fillau of International Olympic Committee and Haider Farman of Olympic Council of Asia had witnessed the elections.

“We have asked our represetatives to quit the NOC because the recent controversy of NOC has not only obsured the authenticity of the two committees but also has put Nepal’s participation at the 2008 Beijing Olympics in doubt,” said the RSFN in a release today. The RSFN also alleged the Pradhan-led NOC of not making transparent the selection of the officials who will represent at the August 8 Beijing Olympics.
