Railway claim title
NEPALGUNJ: India’s Railway team won the title of the third Prime Minister Cup Indo-Nepal Women’s Volleyball Tournament here on Saturday. Railway came from a set down to beat defending champions Nepal APF Club 19-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-16 in the final match. In the third-place playoff match, another Indian team, Uttar Pradesh defeated New Diamond Club 27-25, 25-22, 20-25, 17-25, 15-8. Top three teams earned Rs 101,000, Rs 51,000 and Rs 31,000 respectively. Pratibha Mali of New Diamond was declared the best player of the tournament and received Rs 10,000. Likewise, Saraswoti Chaudhary of APF was named the best spiker, while her teammate Nebika Chaudhary won the best server’s award. Anushi Ghosh and Champa Devi of Railway were adjudged the best blocker and setter respectively, while New Diamond’s Salina Shrestha was named the best defender. State Minister for Drinking Water and Sanitation Dinesh Chandra Yadav and Nepal Volleyball Association secretary TS Thakuri among others handed over the prizes.
