Rain wipes out fourth day play

Gros Islet, June 14 :

Persistent rain wiped out the entire fourth day of the second Test between

West Indies and India at Beausejour Stadium on Tuesday.

Play was set to start a half-hour late at 10 a.m. before steady showers swept across the ground. Rain continued consistently throughout the morning and early afternoon and umpires Simon Taufel of Australia and Asad Rauf of Pakistan made the decision to abandon play for the day at 2:20 p.m..

Taufel and Rauf decided the outfield was too wet. They added that play would

begin on Wednesday’s fifth and final day at 9:30 a.m. with a minimum of 98 overs to be bowled.

India was in a commanding position. The visitors scored 588 for eight declared in their first innings. West Indies replied with 215, and was 43 for one in its second innings after being forced to follow-on.
