Rajaram clinches Nescafe Gold Open Golf Championship

Kathmandu, April 9

Col Dipankar Rajaram accumulated 41 points to claim the title of the Nescafe Gold Open Golf Tournament here at the Gokarna Golf Club today.

The 11-handicap amateur golfer, Rajaram scored 20 points on the first half before adding 21 on the back nine. Babu Sherpa, an eight-handicapper, scored 20 points each on either half finished second with 40 points. Tashi Ghale won the gross section award with 37 points. He scored 17 points on the front nine that included a bogey on the fifth hole, while he added 20 on the latter half with the help of two birdies on the 10th and 12th holes.

Maj Bejoy Moktan won the senior section trophy with 38 points, while Sam Dobulard lifted the junior section title on count back after he was tied on 35 points with Tenzing Tsering. Prithivi Malla claimed the longest drive award, while Robin Rana won the closest-to-the-pin trophy. Mithun Rai received the most birdies award on count back after he was tied on four birdies with Hridesh Singh and Charlie Gurung.

A total of 93 golfers took part in the one-day tournament organised by Nescafe Gold, a product of Nestle India Limited. The tournament was played under stableford 3/4 handicap format. Business Manager of Nestle India Limited Varindra Sewak, President of Gokarna Golf Club Suhrid Ghimire, Captain Joseph Nathan, CNI Vice-president Vishnu Agrawal, Vice-president of Indo-Nepal Chamber of Commerce Shashi Kant Agrawal, Proprietor Chokhani Enterprises Sanjay Chokhani and Tamal Dutta from Nestle India handed over the prizes to the winners.
