Lalitpur, February 6

Renjan Lama and Mayanka Rana advanced to the second round of the Nepal ITF Junior U-18 Circuit-I Tennis Championship here at the Satdobato Tennis Complex today.

In the boys’ singles, Lama came from a set down to beat Vanshu Bhagtani of India 4-6, 7-5, 7-5 and became lone Nepali player in boys’ category to advance to the second round.

In other matches of the boys’ category, Abhinav Acharya went down to Ryo Iizumi of Japan 6-0, 6-0, Samrakshak Bhushan Bajracharya faced a 7-6, 6-3 defeat against Theertha S Macherla of India, Samyak Bajracharya was beaten by Gunjan Jadhav of India 6-0, 6-1, Bibek Shankar Shrestha suffered a 6-0, 6-0 defeat against Yu Lun Xie of China and Samragya Katwal went down to Pratyush Mohanty of India 6-1, 6-0.

In the girls’ section, Mayanka Rana defeated Ashpreet Kaur Bajwa 7-5, 7-5 to make it to the second round.

However, Anne Matheme faced a 6-0, 6-0 defeat against India’s Vaidehi Chaudhari.
