Rewards for champs

KATHMANDU: The National Sports Council urged the government to reward youth cricket team that qualified for the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup and ultra-runner Mira Rai.

The Nepali team earned the World Cup berth by winning the qualifiers held in Malaysia from October 13-23. NSC decided to recommend the reward of Rs 200,000 each to 14 players and Rs 100,000 apiece to coach Jagat Tamatta and physio Dinesh Bhatta.

Raju Rijal was the skipper of the team that included Aarif Sheikh, Sunil Dhamala, Sandip Sunar, Rajbir Singh, Dipendra Singh Airee, Saurav Khanal, Prem Tamang, Sushil Kandel, Dipesh Shrestha, Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi, Kushal Bhurtel, Shankar Rana and Yogendra Karki.

Likewise, the NSC also recommended a cash reward of Rs 100,000 to ultra-runner Rai for winning the gold medal in the Mont Balnc Ultra 80km race in on June 28 in France.
