Riders edge Warriors; Rangers, Tip Top thru

Riders iStores, Warriors, Kocher Rangers and Tip Top advanced to the semi-finals of the Tip Top Marwadi Super Eights Cricket Tournament here at the Tribhuvan University Stadium today.

Riders finished at the top of the Group A on better nett run rate after they were tied on six points with Warriors, while Rangers and Tip Top were first and second in Group B with nine and six points respectively.

Riders, who registered double victories on the first day, faced a nine-run defeat at the hands of Warriors. Batting first, Warriors scored 81-5 in seven overs before Riders reached 72-2. Tushar Agrawal struck a four and two eights in his nine-ball 27 for Warriors, while Sumit Kadmiya top scored for Riders with 15 off 11 that included an eight. A six is awarded eight runs in this format of the game.

The Warriors then defeated Sajangoth Champs by 39 runs. The Warriors scored 99-3 in seven overs riding on an unbeaten 42 off just 13 balls from Pawan Bansal, who hit two fours and three eights.

In reply, the Champs managed 60-6 in which Yash Sonami scored 18 off eight balls hitting one each four and eight.

In Group B, Kocher Rangers registered double victories. They defeated KBH Nepal by 15 runs and outplayed Tip Top by five wickets. Batting first, Kocher Rangers scored 55-6 in seven overs before restricting KBH to 40-3.

In another match, Tip Top scored 69-5 in seven overs and Rangers reached 70-3 with three balls to spare. Sailendra Sharma scored an unbeaten 24 off 15 balls hitting one each four and eight for Tip Top, while Hitesh Dalmiya top scored for Rangers with 11-ball 25 that included two eights.

Tip Top bounced back to beat Fighters by seven wickets. Batting first, Fighters scored 58-5 in seven overs before Tip Top reached 62-1 in the last ball. Amol Sharma top scored for Tip Top with 32 off 25 balls that included three fours, while Niraj Agrawal scored 15-ball 18 for Fighters.

In other matches, Sajangoth Champs (47-3) defeated HamroKitchen (46-4) by five wickets and Fighters (91-1) registered a 22-run victory over KBH Nepal (69-5). Nikhil Lokhotia scored 14-ball 22 for Champs, while Rahul Bansal struck two each fours and eights for Fighters.
