Rohit Chand awarded most valuable player of Indonesia's Liga 1

KATHMANDU: Nepali footballer Rohit Chand Thakuri, who has been featuring for Persija Jakarta, has won the most valuable player title of this year's Indonesia's Liga 1 football league.

Rohit played a significant role in the lead up to the team's championship title as he featured in 31 out of 34 matches and notched three goals.

A 26-year-old Rohit, ANFA youth system product, started his career from Machhindra Club before plying his trade in a foreign land.

He played for Hindustan Aeronautics Limited Sporting Club in Bangalore of India for a couple of years before moving to Indonesia.

A two-footed player, Rohit started his career as a central defender before being deployed as a deep-lying playmaker in the national team. Meanwhile, Rohit has been deployed in a more advanced position in the Persija Jakarta.

Rohit is a vital member of the Nepali national team.
