Rokka surges atop on Day-II

Bhuwan Kumar Rokka moved to the top of the leaderboard after the second round of the Surya Nepal Challenge here at the Royal Nepal Golf Club today.
Rokka carded three-under 65 to post the 36-hole total of four-under 132 and opened up one stroke lead over amateur golfer Subash Tamang, who carded two-under 66 to add to his overnight score of one-under 67. Veteran pro Deepak Magar carded even-par 68 to move to third at 135.
Rokka carded a birdie on the sixth and saved pars on eight holes to take the turn at one-under 33. He then carded three birdies on the 11th, 12th and 18th holes and he dropped a shot on the 15th to finish the back nine at two-under 32.
Amateur player Tamang shot two-under 32 on the front nine before playing even-par 34 on the latter half. Tamang carded birdies on the fourth and fifth holes and added two more on the back nine — 10th and 18 holes. Tamang dropped shots on the 11th and 15th holes.
Veteran pro Magar carded one-under 33 on the front nine. He sank an eagle on the fourth and carded a birdie on the sixth but dropped shots on the third and ninth holes. He then faced a bogey on the 13th to finish the back nine at one-over 35.
Five pros Jayaram Shrestha (70), Surya Prasad Sharma (68), Rame Magar (69), Pradeep Kumar Lama (68), Rabi Khadka (68) shared the fourth position at even-par 136 along with amateur Binod Tamang (70). Three pros Sanjay Lama (71), Bikash Adhikari (65) and Dinesh Prajapati (69) shared the 10th position at one-over 137.
The cut was applied at 13-over 149. Ram Krishna Shrestha, defending champion Bhuwan Nagarkoti, Dhana Bahadur Thapa, Krishna Man Rajbahak, Prabhat Kumar Rajbahak, Bishnu Neupane, Bishnu KC, Sachin Prasad Bhattarai, Gopal Nagarkoti, Shivaram Poudel and Ashish Pariyar survived the cut.
Bipin Karki, Rahul BK, Sandip Tamang and Tanka Bahadur Karki were the other amateur players who survived the cut.
