Rom stars as Baluwatar beat Hong Kong in friendly

Bhaktapur, November 22:

Baluwatar Cricket Club, Training Centre defeated Hong Kong Under-15 team by 101 runs in a friendly match here at the Birendra Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya grounds today.

Hong Kong skipper Miten Khatri won the toss and asked Baluwatar to take the first strike. Baluwatar were bowled out for 178 runs in 30.3 overs. In reply, Hong Kong were packed up for 77 runs in 27.5 overs.

Dipen Shrestha top-scored with 45 runs for the local team, while Rom Shrestha (29), Sunam Gautam (28), Ritesh Singh (not out 17), skipper Abhay Rana (14) and Mayur Malakar (10) made major contributions. Nizakat Khan took 3-22, while Mark Chapman claimed 3-34 for

Hong Kong. Shamal Khan finished with 2-26.

For Hong Kong, Nizakat Khan top-scored with 42 runs. None other Hong Kong batsmen could reach a double figure. For Baluwatar, Rom Shrestha took three wickets conceding just two runs in 1.5 overs and earned the man of the match award. Ritesh Singh claimed 3-12 in five overs, while Abhay Rana and Raju Thapa pocketed two wickets each.

President of Baluwatar Cricket Club, Training Centre and vice-president of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) Upendra Prasad Bhattarai and spokesperson of CAN Tarakmani Dixit gave away the trophies.

Hong Kong team manager Peter Chapman and coach Sher Bahadur Lama presented the token of love to Bhattari. Hong Kong team is here to participate in the ACC Under-15 Elite Cup beginning on Sunday.
