Kathmandu, June 28
Roshan Nagarkoti and Ashim Sherchan advanced to the Recurve Individual section final of the Laxman Kumar Shrestha Memorial sixth Indoor National Archery Championship here at the NSC covered hall today.
In the men’s section, Nagarkoti defeated Prem Prasad Pun 6-0, while Sherchan edged past Khum Kumal 6-4. In women’s category, Aisha Tamang defeated Bishnu Maya Limbu 7-1 and Mitra Rai registered a 6-4 victory over Rashmi Darlami to make it to the final.
Likewise, Tribhuvan Army Club and Nepal Magar Samaj advanced to the team event final. TAC beat Kaski 6-4, while Nepal Magar Samaj defeated Nepal Police Club 6-2.
In Compound event, Sanatan Malla of Rajdhani and Prasada Acharya of Best Archery advanced to the final. Malla defeated Yogendra Sherchan of Kaski 137-136, while Acharya registered a 132-131 victory over Ramesh Bhattachan of Thasang.
Raj Kumar Chhantyal and Suman Gurung set the all-Annapurna men’s Standard Individual section final with identical 6-0 victories over their opponents. Raj Kumar beat Raju Chhantyal of Himalayan Bhote and Gurung defeated Pranjal Rai of Best Archery. In women’s section, Anusha Grurung of Annapurna and Ashna Lama of Best Archery made it to the final. Gurung beat TAC’s Kalpana Adhikari 6-0, while Lama defeated Manju Bajgai of TAC 6-2.
In Standard Men team event, Annapurna Archery Club and TAC advanced to the final. Annapurna registered a 5-3 victory over Thasang Sports Club, while TAC defeated Himalayan Bhote Club 6-2. In mix team event, Anusha Gurung and Raj Kumar Chhantyal of Annapurna advanced to the final along with Ashna Lama and Pranjal Rai of Best Archery, while APF duo Gita Khatri and Laxuman Tamang will face TAC’s Manju Bajgai and Kamal Dani in third-place playoff match.
A total of 66 archers are taking part in the two-day tournament organised by Nepal Archery Association in memory of its president Laxman Kumar Shrestha. The third place and final matches are slated for Saturday.
Earlier, Vice-president of National Sports Council Pitambar Timsina inaugurated the tournament.
