Jhapa beat Pokhara in Shivasatakshi Gold Cup

Rumpum Jhapa-XI defeated Pokhara-XI in the opening match of the second Shivasatakshi Gold Cup Football Tournament here at Jhiljhile grounds today.

The home team registered a 5-0 victory riding on a brace from Karna Limbu. Bishal Rai, Martin Ajayi and Khamir Gilson Kangdangwa also scored for Jhapa.

The home side opened the scoring through an early goal from Ajayi who found the back of the nets in the ninth minute. Limbu doubled the tally in the 17th minute before Rai scored team’s third goal two minutes later.

Kangdangwa made it 4-0 in the 51st minute, while Limbu scored his second goal of the match in the 72nd minute. Pokhara returned home empty handed after wasting a penalty. Jhapa-XI skipper Yogesh Gurung won the man-of-the-match award and received Rs 10,000.

A total of 12 teams are taking part in the tournament organised by Satasidham Sporting Club. The winners of the tournament will be richer by Rs 500,000, while the runners-up will get Rs 250,000. Earlier, Chief District Officer Rishiram Tiwari inaugurated the tournament.
