SAG medallist Gole finishes first in taolu, Rai wins gold medal

Tribhuvan Army Club’s Hari Prasad Gole and Sabita Rai won the gold medals in the National Wushu Tournament under the NSC Championship here today.

Silver medallist of the 12th South Asian Games Gole finished first in men’s taolu category after accumulating 16.75 points, while Pasang Sherpa (16.40) and Bibek Shrestha (14.05) won silver and bronze medals respectively.

In women’s event, Rai earned 17 points to win the gold, while her TAC teammate Mina Glan (16.35) and Far-western’s Samjhana Chaudhary (15.40) bagged silver and bronze medals respectively.

In sanshou event, Nepal APF Club’s Ashok Khaling defeated Narendra Kunwar of Central and Ganesh Limbu of Eastern beat Mid-western’s Tikaraj Rokaya to advance to the men’s 48kg category final.

In 52kg section, TAC’s Madan Kumar Shrestha outplayed Nepal Police Club’s Dipendra Sijali Magar, while Central’s Kanti Lama beat Far-western’s Shiva Raj Sunari Magar to make it to the final. APF’s Amar Sunar saw off Central’s Sunni Shirish to enter the 56kg section final.

In 60kg event, NPC’s Mukesh Pandit beat Eastern’s Bijay Rasaili and APF’s Mangal Prasad Tharu defeated Far-western’s Bal Krishna Chaudhary to advance to the final, while NPC’s Suman Ghushri defeated Far-western’s Suddhiram Chaudhary and TAC’s Birman Lama surpassed APF’s Sanjib Maharjan to sail into the final of 65kg section.

Likewise, Yogendra Thapa of Western defeated Central’s Ramchandra Simkhanda and TAC’s Chitra Singh Thakuri saw off NPC’s Prem Chandra Darlami Magar to make it to the 70kg category final, while  TAC’s Padam Rai outplayed Mid-western’s Bharat Rana and Eastern’s Chandra Limbu beat Kiran Shahi of Western in the 75kg category semi-final matches.

In 80kg section, Western’s Anup Khadka beat Far-western’s Prakash Thapa to set final date with APF’s Nikesh Shrestha, who defeated Eastern’s Ganesh Shrestha. Also, APF’s Bhupendra Shah beat TAC’s Ram Chandra Baral and NPC’s Ajay Maharjan saw off Western’s Prabesh Rana Magar to make it to the 85kg weight category final. In 90kg section, TAC’s Kiran Saud defeated Binod Niraula of Eastern, while Eastern’s Sujan BK won the 90kg event match after TAC’s Ramesh Tamang was medically disqualified.

In women’s category, TAC’s Sarmila Rai and Western’s Rekha Bohara advanced to the 48kg final, while Far-western’s Rita Thakulla and TAC’s Alina Chaudhary made it to the 52kg category final. Similarly, TAC’s JuniRai and APF’s Nisha BK entered the 56kg section final, while Mid-western’s Goma Ashre and TAC’s Lumanti Shrestha made it to the 60kg event final.

In 65kg section, Ashmita Apten and APF’s Manisha Raut sailed into the final, while TAC’s Bindu Pun Magar and Mid-western’s Devi Shrestha entered the 70kg weight category final.

The final matches will be played on Monday.
