KATHMANDU: Sushmita Khadka and Smriti Panta won gold medals in the second Samjhana Cup National Table Tennis Tournament here at the Lainchaur covered hall on Sunday.

Bijeshwori School’s Khadka defeated AVM’s Biyanka Rai 11-6, 11-9, 11-4 in U-12 girls’ singles final, while Panta beat fellow Swornim School teammate Aava Panta 11-5, 12-10, 11-5 in U-16 girls’ singles final.

Likewise, Chandan Shahi of All Nepal TT Club defeated Sunsari’s Ranjan Subba 3-0 to win the above-40 veteran singles gold medal. Umesh Manandhar and Jayaram Maharjan of Kathmandu finished joint third.

Top three players received Rs 10,000, Rs 5,000 and Rs 2,500 respectively.

A total of 350 players are taking part in the tournament organised by Lalitpur district Table Tennis Association under the sponsorship of Samjhana Laboratory.

The tournament features nine events.
