Samrakshhyak, Sakshhyam win

KATHMANDU: Samrakshhyak Bhushan Bajracharya and Sakshhyam Karki entered the Under-10 boys' singles final at the eighth Jaykar Memorial Junior National Open Tennis Tournament here on Friday.

At the Little Angels' School courts, Samrakshhyak defeated Rishab Karki 8-2, while Sakshhyam beat Nabin Joshi 8-3. In the U-12 boys' singles, Abhaya Gauchan beat Siddhartha Pandey 8-5 to set the championship date with Ivan Lissanevitch, who routed Akash Rokka 8-1. Likewise, Gita Shrestha and Sakshi Gurung advanced to the U-12 girls' singles final. Gita outplayed Mayanka Rana 8-3 and Sakshi defeated Akriti Acharya 8-4.

At the Satdobato Tennis Complex, Aslesha Lissanevitch beat Anushka 6-2, 6-4 to advance to the U-14 girls' singles final where she will meet Gita Shrestha, who progressed after her opponent Rabina Gurung retired of injury while leading 5-4 in the first set. In the U-14 boys' section, Niraj Wagle and Ivan Lissanevitch set the championship date. Niraj defeated Prakash Sharma 6-2, 6-3, while Ivan came from a set down to beat Sandesh Singh Rathor 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. The finals are slated for Saturday.
