Santwana beat White House, enter semis

Kathmandu, May 4

Santwana College advanced to the semi-finals of the Expert College Premier League Cricket Tournament at the TU Stadium on Wednesday.

Santwana thrashed Himalayan White House College by nine wickets. Batting first, White House made 116-9 in 20 overs. In reply, Santwana chased down the total posting 120-1 in 16.5 overs. Santwana’s innings revolved around man-of-the-match Prakash Bista, who scored an unbeaten 53 off 51 balls that included five fours and a six. Naresh Budhayer made 38 off 31 balls hitting five fours and a six, while Hasim Andari made unbeaten 15 off 18 balls. Pradeep Tandon grabbed the only wicket for White House.

Earlier, White House were kept under pressure by Santwana bowlers as the batsmen failed to build partnership. Pawan Sharaf top scored for White House with an unbeaten 28 off 18 balls with two fours and a six, while Pradeep Tandon and Samir Nepal scored 17 runs each. Avinash Bohara, Susan Bhari and Puspa Thapa claimed two wickets each, while Avinash Karn and Prakash Bista grabbed one each for Santwana.

The second quarter-final match of the tournament between Capital College and Research Centre was called off due to sudden rain. The match will be played on Thursday.
