Saraswoti defeat RCT
Kathmandu, January 20:
New Road Team (NRT) and Brigade Boys Club (BBC) played a 2-2 draw while Saraswoti Youth Club defeated Sony Ranipokhari Corner Team (RCT) 2-1 in the Martyrs Memorial San Miguel ‘A’ Division League here at the Dasharath Stadium today.
Milan Chandra Rai scored twice for BBC while Kinley Dorje and Nawang Dendup replied for NRT. In another game, Tej Pariyar and Bhagwan Thapa scored for Saraswoti while Rishi Rai pulled back one for RCT.
Milan gave BBC the lead in the 34th minute before Dorje equalised for NRT in the 62nd minute. Dendup provided NRT the lead scoring on a pass from Subhash Rai in the 80th but Milan rescued BBC from the defeat scoing his second goal of the game three minutes later.
NRT coach Raju Shakya said that they still have chance to finish at the top six. “But I not very hopeful to claim the top six position following the declining performances of the team,” Shakya added.
BBC coach Hari Om Shrestha was happy to see his team unite. “We still have chance to avoid relegation provided we beat Boys Union and Saraswoti,” Shrestha claimed.
In another game, Tej Pariyar put Saraswoti ahead in the 41st minute on a pass from Subin Ghimire. Bhagwan Thapa doubled their tally in the 52nd minute on a penalty. Saraswoti was awarded the spot kick after Ajit Thapa handled the ball just on the goalline. Ajit was sent off for the intentional hand-ball. RCT pulled back one when Rishi Rai scored following a cross from Rajan Gauchan two minutes into the second half injury time.
Saraswoti coach Lokesh Thapa said that the win was a relief in their bid to survive in the upper division. “Our game is improving and I am hopeful we will survive,” said Thapa adding that they are not yet safe.
