Sarlahi advance to quarter-finals

Sarlahi played a 1-1 draw with Banke and advanced to the quarter-finals of the ANFA Women’s Football League here today.

Rabina Gole put Sarlahi ahead in the match with a goal in the 23rd minute before Nilima Tharu levelled the scores for Banke six minutes later. With the draw, Sarlahi advanced the quarter-finals as the group winners.

In other matches, Morang thrashed Bardiya 5-0 in a match which was postponed on Friday due to rain, while Rautahat overwhelmed Dhankuta 10-0, and hosts Syangja routed Panchthar 16-0.

Saru Limbu scored four goals alone, while Fina Rai netted one for Morang. Also, Rashmi Kumari Ghising struck five goals for Rautahat, while Rajani Thokar scored a brace and Asmita Vaidhya, Mithila Kushwar and Sumitra Pakhrin netted one each.

Likewise, national women’s football team striker Sabitra Bhandari scored 10 goals alone for Syangja, whereas Sajana Rana netted four goals. Lekh Maya Maskey and Riya Banu also joined the feast with one goal apiece.

Likewise, Jhapa and Kanchanpur registered comfortable victories, while Bhojpur and Kathmandu played a goalless draw in the matches played in Palpa.

Jhapa hammered Mohattari 8-0 riding on four goals from Samjhana Lawati. Dikshya Chaudhary netted two, while Ramika Tamang and Yamuna Adhikari scored one each.

In another match, Kanchanpur defeated Makawanpur 4-2. Priyanka Rana struck twice, while Nilam Singh and Anjali Chand scored one each for Kanchanpur. Keshari Pakhrin and Sunita Bomjan scored one goal apiece for Makawanpur.
