LALITPUR, DECEMBER 16

Deep Saun and Swechha Nembang won the mixed doubles title of the first Nepal APN Open Table Tennis Championship here on Thursday.

The Tribhuvan Army Club pair bounced back from two-set deficit to defeat Nepal Police Club's Santoo Shrestha and Manju Suwal 7-11, 9-11, 11-3, 12-10, 11-4 in the final match.

TAC's Kushal Nyachhyon and Rabina Maharjan finished third along with Nepal APF Club's Rajiv Chikabanjar and Anita Maharjan. Likewise, Prabesh Basnet of New Horizon defeated Bishal Gole of Cage Academy 3-11, 11-5, 8-11, 11-6, 11-8 to win the boys' U-16 title, while Prince Thapa of Gargi Academy and Adrian Shahi of Anniey's Pingpong Club came joint third.

Deeya Deula claimed the girls' section gold medal with a 6-11, 11-8, 11-6, 11-7 victory over her TAC teammate Sushmita Khadka.

Youngee Poudel and Anamika Kasti of hosts APM Club finished third.

A total of 350 players are taking part in the three-day tournament that offers eight categories.

Earlier, co-sponsor Purna Shankar Shrestha inaugurated the tournament.

The winners will receive kits sponsored by Xiom, while the top three players in singles categories will also get cash prizes.
