Sautha shower 19 goals in opener against Dreamland

KATHMANDU: Sautha Higher Secondary School of Morang showered 19 goals against Dreamland English Medium High School of Banke in their 19-0 victory in the inaugural match of the Coca-Cola Cup Inter-School National Football Tournament here at the Dashrath Stadium.

In the Group A match, Prem Tamang and Firoj Tamang completed double hat-trick each to give a splendid opening to the last year’s runners up Sautha in the tournament. Santosh Seling also found the net five times in the one-sided affair. Shambhu Shrestha and Raj Kumar Rai also added a goal each.

In the other matches, Janak Boarding School and Radhika Secondary School of Morang and Gandaki Boarding School of Pokhara registered wins.

Janak School crushed Thekraj School of Kailai 8-2 in the first Group B match. Aman Kumar Majhi struck four goals for the winners while Roshan Chaudhari scored a brace. Roshan Kumar Majhi and Tek Narayan Chaudhari netted one goal each for the winners. Krishna Chaudhari was the sole performer for Thekraj scoring two goals.

In the Group C meeting, Gandaki School thrashed Siddhartha Boarding School of Butwal 8-0 riding on Kapil Ale Magar’s four goals. Abhinash Thakali also scored two goals, while Uttam Sunwar and Karan Gurung netted one goal each for Gandaki.

Meanwhile, the only competitive match of the day saw Radhika School defeating Shanti Nikunja Boarding School of Pokhara 5-3. Rajkumar Chaudhari scored two goals for Radhika, while Ranjit Dhital and Bhakta Bhandari also found the nets. Midhir Rana of Shanti School scored a suicide goal. Kshitiz Sen put his efforts to keep Shanti Nikunja alive in the game scoring twice. Kishan Prajapati added another goal for the team.
