School-level volleyball tourney from today

Chandragiri Municipality Committee of Madan Bhandari Sports Academy is organising the first Chandragiri Deputy Mayor Cup School-level Girls’ Volleyball Tournament from Saturday at the New Diamond Academy courts.
A total of 10 teams — St David’s School, Annal Jyoti School, Bijeshwori Gyan Mandir, Paramount School, Paropakar Adharsha, Kanya Mandir, Gyan Sudha Academy, Three Star Academy, Springdale School and New Diamond Academy — are competing in the tournament, informed tournament’s technical coordinator Kumar Rai at a press meet today.
The top four teams of the league-cum-knockout tournament will get Rs 45,000, Rs 25,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively. Similarly, the best player, best spiker, blocker, server, defender and setter will also receive cash prizes. The final will be played on May 22 coinciding with the Volleyball Day, the day when volleyball was declared the national sport.
Meanwhile, Rai informed Nepal APF Club and Shivam New Diamond Academy will play a friendly match on the final day of the tournament to mark the Volleyball Day Celebration. The winners and losing side will get Rs 10,000 and Rs 7,000 respectively.
Meanwhile, Nepal Volleyball Association General Secretary Jitendra Bahadur Chand said the association would provide the organisers and participating teams with equipment.
