Shahi wins gold

The 10th South Asian Games gold and 15th Asian Games bronze medallist Manita Shahi of Nepal Police claimed the women’s lightweight championship with an easy win over Pabitra Sharma of Eastern Region at the eighth National Taekwondo Tournament here today.
Abina Rai of National Team ‘A’ beat Laxmi Thapa of Nepali Army to claim the women’s featherweight gold medal. Radhika Shrestha of Nepal Police won the women’s welter weight gold beating Punam Thapa of Nepali Army in final. Samina Maharjan of National Team ‘B’ bagged the women’s bantamweight gold beating Rek Maya Gurung of Western Region.
In the men’s section, Moti Lal Bhandari of Central Region overcame Yadav Bahadur Poudel of Nepali Army to win the welterweight gold medal. Likewise, Hem Jung Rawat of Nepali Army beat Vicky Gubhaju of Central Region for the middleweight gold and Khem Raj Pun of Western Region defeated Prem Bahadur Budhathoki of Nepali Army to claim the heavyweight gold.
Ramesh Shrestha of National Team ‘B’ earned the men’s lightweight gold with a win over Ashish Chand of Far-western Region while Ganesh Bahadur Khadka of Nepal Police was declared the men’s feather weight champion after his opponent Shanker Karki of Western Region sustained injury. Raj Kumar Shrestha of Nepali Army claimed the fly weight championship with a victory over Purushottam Manandhar of Central Region.
