Shankhamul claim National Futsal League

Kathmandu, September 10

Shankhamul Futsal won the title of the Red Bull National Futsal League here at the Chaur Recreational Centre today.

In the final match, Shankhamul saw off Kick-off Futsal 5-4 and won the title of the first edition of the tournament organised by All Nepal Football Association’s Futsal Committee.

Suraj Raut scored two goals, while Abhay Rana, Anish Shrestha and Nirmal Gurung netted one goal each for the champions.

Similarly, Suman Dangol scored a brace, while Mani Lama and Rajin Pandey added one goal each for Kick-off.

Winners Shankhamul bagged a purse of Rs 500,000, while runners-up Kick-off got Rs 250,000.

Shankhamul also dominated the individual awards. Binod Gurung claimed the emerging player’s award, while Anish Shrestha was adjudged the best goalkeeper. Suraj Raut was awarded with the best player and Prakash Pariyar won the best coach’s award. Kick-off’s Raj Shahi was declared the best defender. The individual award winners got Rs 20,000 each.

A total of 16 teams competed in the tournament organised to select players for the AFC Futsal Championship 2018 Qualifiers slated for October 13-15 in Iran.

Nepal are in Group A along with Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan in the South and Central Zone, while hosts Iran, Tajikistan and Afghanistan are in Group B.
