KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 7
Nawang Pasang Sherpa, Dawa Sonam Sherpa and Pawan Bista earned berths in the finals of the International Invitational Series, here today.
Nawang and Dawa won the titles of the respective handicap categories, while Bista won the chipping activation contest in the International Invitational Series presented by Oma Emirates at the Gokarna Golf Club. All three golfers will travel to Dubai next month to participate in the finals.
Nawang won the 13-and-above handicap category title with 42 points. Phursang Lama finished second with 37 points, while Aarti Rana came third with 36 points. Dawa accumulated 41 points to win the 0-12 handicap section trophy.
Gaurav Shah was runner-up with 36 points, while Jigme Dongstetsang came third with 34 points. Bista won the chipping activation contest, a fun and engaging challenge open to all participants.
Meanwhile, Sonam Norbu Lama won the closest-to-the-pin award, while Prabin Shahi Thakuri claimed the longest drive trophy. Out of the 19 golfers in the 'beat-the-pro' challenge on Hole No 10, Sunil Karki emerged victorious on lucky draw.
A total of 98 golfers competed in the event which was played under stableford 3/4 handicap format. The event was made possible through the generous sponsorship of Oma Emirates, whose unwavering commitment has elevated the sport in Nepal and beyond.
Chief Strategic Officer of Oma Emirates Rizwan Qazi, Gokarna Golf Club President Suhrid Ghimire and Captain Joseph Natham handed over prizes to the winners of the tournament.
