Sherpa elected

KATHMANDU: President of All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) Karma Tsering Sherpa was elected as the Member of the South West Asian Football Federation in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Sunday.

Sherpa along with vice-president Bir Bahadur Khadka and General Secretary Indra Man Tuladhar attended the first general assembly of the newly-formed body. The assembly elected Dr Adel bin Mohammad Ezzat, President of Saudi Arabian Football Federation, as the leader of the SWAFF.

Nepal, who were affiliated to South Asian Football Federation and Asian Football Confederation in the region, will now be a part of SWAFF.

A total of 14 countries — Nepal, India, Pakistan, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq, Yemen, UAE and Oman — took part in the SWAFF assembly.

Mani Kunwar, former senior Vice-president of ANFA, represents Nepal in the SAFF under the capacity of vice-president.
