Sherpa elected as ANFA President
KATHMANDU: Karma Tshiring Sherpa has been elected as the President of All Nepal Football Federation (ANFA) on Sunday.
Sherpa garnered 63 votes while other Presidential candidate Mani Kunwar, who had announced not to take part in the elections got 12 votes only. A total of 76 votes were cast and one was invalid in the elections held in Sanepa, Lalitpur.
Likewise, Pankaj Bikram Nembang, Bir Bahadur Khadka, Krishna Bahadur Thapa and Upendra Man Singh of Sherpa panel have been elected as Vice-presidents. Altogether nine candidates had vied for the posts of Vice-presidents.
Similarly, Sherpa panel also clean swept all the 11 posts of central members. Dawa Lama, Niroj Khadgi, Purna Man Chitrakar, Rabindra Man Shrestha, Madhusudhan Upadhyaye, Pradesh Singh Rathore, Dinesh Byanjankar, Dirgha Bahadur KC, Kiran Rai, Bijay Ghale and Ratnakura Shrestha were elected as central committee members. Pema Lama was already elected as a member unopposed under the women's quota.
The elected committee will now appoint general secretary and treasurer.
FORMER ANFA PREZ THAPA EXTENDS CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE
Meanwhile, forever President of the ANFA Ganesh Thapa has extended congratulatory message to the newly elected executive body of the association.
Thapa, through a social media post on Saturday has said that he wishes a successful tenure for all officials. 'I hope that the entire football fraternity will now come together for the betterment and development of football in Nepal," the post read.
