Shevchenko aims to justify price tag
London, July 9 :
Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko insisted he is determined to justify his 55 million dollars price tag.
Ukraine star Shevchenko cost Chelsea record fee when he moved to Stamford Bridge from AC Milan in May. He will also earn wages of around 203,000 dollars for the duration of his four-year contract, and it had been suggested Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho paid over the odds for a player who will be 30 this September.
But the former Dynamo Kiev forward is adamant he will prove Mourinho got it right when he persuaded Blues owner Roman Ambramovich to sanction the transfer. He told the Chelsea magazine: “He (Mourinho) is a very interesting person to talk to. I am looking forward to proving on the field that he was right about me. He said some kind words and I am very happy that he said them, especially as they are words coming from one of the best managers in the world.”
