Shrestha up to 446

KATHMANDU: Nepal No 1 table tennis player Nabita Shrestha jumped 143 spots in the world ranking. The five-time national champion, Shrestha moved to 446th position with 1366 points in the 2016 ranking from the previous year’s 589. She was at the 625th position in 2014. Another player, Rabina Maharjan sneaked into the world ranking for the first time and is at the 608th position with 1013 points. In men’s section, Purushottam Bajracharya is at the 518th position with 1009 points. Nepal improved in the world ranking in women’s team section after Nabita, Rabina and Elina Maharjan defeated 59th-ranked Estonia and 76th-ranked Pakistan to move to 68th from the 86th position at the Perfect World Team Table Tennis Championship earlier this month in Malaysia.
