Shrihar Rana bags golf title

Shrihar SJB Rana won the Japanese Ambassador’s Golf Tournament with 39 points here at Royal Nepal Golf Club today. Played at 3/4 handicap format, Maj Narendra Kumar Rai finished runner-up with 36 points. In senior section (55 years and above), Min Bahadur Raut came first whereas Major Dal Bahadur Gurung was the runner-up. Shastika Shrestha won the ladies section with 33 points while Pushpa Rai finished runner-up with 22 points on count back. Khadga Jit Baral emerged victorious in the super senior section (70 years and above).

Tashi Ghale won two awards: best gross and the longest drive award. RK Pradhan bagged the most birdies award, while Ang Tsering Sherpa was the golfer closest to the pin. H Ishihara won the sportsmanship award. In all, 105 golfers — including seven in women’s, 33 in senior and four in super senior sections — participated in the annual event organised by Japanese Embassy in Nepal. The organisers were compelled to extend the tournament to two days because of the large number of participants. Japanese Ambassador to Nepal Tsumotu Hiraoka gave away prizes to the winners.
