Kathmandu, March 14

Tribhuvan Army Club’s Nangsal Tamang won the women’s singles title of the 14th Krishna Mohan Memorial Open Badminton Championship today.

In the final match, Tamang recorded a hard-fought 21-19, 19-21, 21-19 victory against her TAC teammate Rashila Maharjan. Tamang received Rs 50,000, while Maharjan earned Rs 25,000.

Tamang then teamed up with Anumaya Rai and defeated Jhapa’s Jesika Gurung and Sunaina Mukhiya 21-14, 11-21, 21-18 to make it to the women’s doubles final. They will face Nepal APF Club pair of Pooja Shrestha and Siksha Shrestha, who beat TAC’s Rashila Maharjan and Amita Giri 21-11, 21-19.

In men’s singles semi-final matches, APF’s Dipesh Dhami defeated TAC’s Nabin Shrestha 21-16, 21-16 and TAC’s Ratnajit Tamang outplayed Darchula’s Prince Dahal 21-17, 21-10.

In men’s doubles, TAC pair of Nabin Shrestha and Ratnajit Tamang, APF pairs of Dipesh Dhami/Bijit Thapa Magar and Sudeep Sedhai/Sajan Krishna Tamrakar, and Nepal Police Club’s Deepak Bohara and Jeevan Acharya made it to the semi-finals.

In boys’ U-17 category, TAC’s Prafull Maharjan defeated Kailali’s Devraj Rana 21-11, 21-10 and Darchula’s Prince Dahal saw off TAC’s Rijen Maharjan 21-4, 21-17 and advanced to the final.

Volleyball

Nepal Police Club and Shivam New Diamond Academy advanced to the semi-finals of the APF IG fifth Open Women’s Volleyball Tournament. NPC thrashed Dhorpatan Sports Club 25-9, 25-3, 25-19 and made it to the last four. NPC’s Kaman Bista was named the player-of-the-match.

Similarly, NDA thrashed Jawalakhel Volleyball Training Centre 25-1, 25-3, 25-10. NDA’s Kripa Adhikari received the player-of-the-match award. Tribhuvan Army Club and Nepal APF Club have already booked berths in the semis.
