KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 23
Shyam Tamang was crowned champion in the Men's category at the Pilot Golfers Amateur Championship held on November 22-23 at the Royal Nepal Golf Club in Kathmandu.
The tournament featured the Stableford format with a cutoff at 34 points and included 108 golfers, including 12 women participants.
In the Men's category, Tamang emerged victorious with an impressive net score of 45. He was closely followed by Kabi Thapa, who finished as the runner-up with a net score of 41.
In the Gross Winner category, Babu Kumar Poudel claimed the title with an outstanding net score of 37.
In the Senior (65+ years) category, Lt. Gen. Paban Jung Rana secured top honors with a net score of 39, while Maj. Gen. Vijaya Moktan took the runner-up position with a score of 33.
In the Ladies category, Geeta Gurung triumphed with a net score of 36 on countback, narrowly edging out Avanie Rai, who also scored a net 36, to secure the runner-up position.
In the Senior Ladies category, Sandhya Rai emerged victorious with a net score of 33.
Maj. Gen. Om Pun showcased excellent form to win the Men's Super Senior category with a net score of 31.
Special accolades were awarded during the tournament, with Mithun Rai receiving the Most Birdies Award for scoring six birdies. Tarun Agrawal won the Pilots Flight Path Drive Award, and Rabindra Tiwari took home the Closest to the Pin Award.
The event concluded with a grand awards ceremony, where prizes were distributed by distinguished personalities, including Madhukar Yakthumba, SSP Rajendra Shrestha, Mithun Rai, Capt. RP Dhakal, Sabita Shrestha, and Capt. VP Singh.
