KATHMANDU: South Korea and United Arab Emirates won the titles of the U-18 Asian Rugby Sevens here at the Dasharath Stadium on Sunday.
South Korea defeated UAE 21-17 in the men's section final. Earlier in the semi-final matches, South Korea beat Malaysia 19-7 and UAE outplayed India 36-0.
Malaysia bagged bronze medal after they beat India 36-6 in the third-place playoff match. Chinese Taipei beat Thailand 19-0 in Plate final. Chinese Taipei had defeated Nepal 34-7, while Thailand thrashed Bangladesh 53-0 to make it to the Plate final.
Nepal finished seventh among eight participants. In women's section, UAE outplayed India 26-5 to win the title.
Malaysia beat Thailand to finish third.
Five teams including Nepal took part in the tournament. National Sports Council Member Secretary Tanka Lal Ghising, Asia Rugby President Qais Al Dhalai and acting president of Nepal Rugby Association Deepak Devkota handed over the prizes to the winners.
