Kathmandu, April 17

Soaltee Crowne Plaza is organising the annual Social Golf Tournament at the Royal Nepal Golf Club this week.

Around 100 golfers are expected to participate in the tournament that features men, women, gross, senior and junior categories, said the organisers at a press meet today. The tournament will be played over 18 holes under stableford ¾ handicap format with maximum permissible handicap of 18 for men and 24 for ladies. The tournament is slated for Friday and Saturday at the par-67 RNGC course.

The winners and runners-up in men and women sections, along with winners in gross, senior and junior categories will receive attractive prizes, along with field prizes including longest drive, closest-to-the-pin, best sportsmanship, most birdies and Hole-in-One. Bijay Bahadur Shrestha, Director of Soaltee Hotel Limited said they wanted to promote golf in Nepal. “We have been conducting this event annually but this year it will be special,” he said.

Nepal SBI Bank is the title sponsor of the tournament, while Oman Air, Jacobs Creek and Tensberg, Toyota and Royal Nepal Golf Club are the other partners. General Manager of Soaltee Crowne Plaza Upal Majumdar, General Manager of Toyota Mahesh Kumar M, MD and CEO of Nepal SBI Bank Ltd Anukool Bhatnagar and Captain of RNGC NK Rai were also present on the occasion.
