Spikers Shrestha, Mali claim NVA Awards

Tribhuvan Army Club spiker Man Bahadur Shrestha and New Diamond Academy’s Pratibha Mali won the best player’s awards here today.
Shrestha was named the Player of the Year award in men’s section, while Mali received the women’s category honour at the NVA-City Travels Awards organised by Nepal Volleyball Association. Both the players received Rs 25,000 each.
Nepal Police Club clean swept the emerging players’ awards, with Bishal BK and Kamana Bista receiving the awards. They got Rs 15,000 each. Likewise, TAC’s Jagadish Bhatta was named the Coach of the Year in men’s section, while APF’s Gyanendra Bista bagged the award in women’s category. The best coaches earned Rs 15,000 apiece.
Similarly, Tribhuvan Army Club was declared the Team of the Year in men’s section, while APF bagged the honour in women’s category. The best teams received Rs 50,000 each.
Likewise, the men’s team that won the maiden international medal in the third AVC Senior Men’s Central Zone Volleyball Championship was honoured on the occasion. The team had finished third to win the first-ever medal in international tournament.
Likewise, the NVA also honoured former skipper Mahendra Lal Shrestha, Nepal Sports Journalists Forum and Rim Rana Bhat for their contribution in the development of volleyball. The NVA also distributed kits to 40 regional and district associations along with the clubs.
National Sports Council Member Secretary Keshab Kumar Bista and NVA President Manoranjan Raman Sharma among others handed over the prizes to the winners. The NVA has signed a three-year deal with City Travels and Tours for the annual awards. City Travels will provide NVA with one million rupees to organise the awards.
