Women’s volleyball

KATHMANDU: The Dhorpatan Sports Club is organising the fourth Dhorpatan Blue Sky Cup Women's Volleyball Double League Championship from December 17-26. In all eight teams will vie for the championship, said the organisers. The top four teams will receive Rs 100,000, Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000. The fifth to sixth place finishing team will also receive their share of cash prizes. while the best player will bag one tola gold. Prizes are also on offer for the best individual performers. Meanwhile, the Dhorpatan feted NSJF Popular Player of the Year Manju Gurung with a cash prize of Rs 10,000.

Ansari appointed

KATHMANDU: National Sports Council (NSC) board member Samim Miya Ansari (Bablu) has been appointed the political advisor of Youth and Sports Minister Ganesh Tiwari Nepali on Tuesday. Samim was appointed the NSC board member from Nepal Kyo-kushin Budokai Karate Association under the sports association quota. The former national player, Samim, is also the fourth Dan in Kyo-Kushin Karate.
