Sports struggle committee stage rally

Kathmandu, June 24:

The Nepal Sports Struggle Committee (NSSC) held a protest rally from Maitighar Mandala to National Sports Council (NSC) demanding the resignation of NSC member secretary Jeevan Ram Shrestha.

Upon reaching the NSC, the agitators held a corner meet and padlocked the NSC main gate. The NSSC convenor Kishor Bahadur Karki said that their objective to padlock the NSC main gate was only to stop the member secretary from going to his office. “We will not disturb the administrative works and tournaments.”

The NSSC — formed by the officials from shooting, archery, handball, billiards, chess, athletics, table tennis and basketball associations — has been demanding the restoration of the dissolved committees since the last

three weeks. The padlock, however, lasted for just half an hour. As soon as the agitators left the place putting a banner at the NSC gate, a group of people — who were already on the NSC premises — broke the lock.
